Winston holds a Master of Music degree from Indiana University. He is considered one of the most important pioneers in the development of the tuba ensemble. He is conductor of the tuba and euphonium ensemble Symphonia and performs with the TUBAJAZZ CONSORT. He was was one of the founders of the Tubist Universal Brotherhood Association.
